Just a short walk down the road from the Old Vic you find Waterloo bar+kitchen, a wine bar and restaurant that prides itself on serving quality food at reasonable prices. And rightly so. With a menu focusing on seasonal British dishes, you can get a proper steak, slow cooked lamb or a really nice fillet of wild sea trout cooked to perfection.

While you can’t really go here for lunch (they don’t open until 18:00 except Wednesdays when they open at 13:00), The Pit gets a special mention for being a really nice place to go for a pint, a glass of wine or a cocktail after work. Why not bring a date, the hidden away feeling of this basement establishment and the general theatre flair of the place gives it quite the romantic air.
YO! Sushi
This chain might not provide the most amazing sushi experiences, but this particular venue just opposite County Hall is quite alright. Besides, there is something really appealing about conveyor belt sushi, watching all this food glide by knowing that you can try all of it.
