Me (Magnus Hultberg) and my colleague Chris sat and solved the world problems over lunch one day, as we frequently do, and gushed praise over the fantastic Pad Thai served at The Kings Arms. One world problem we found really difficult to grasp that particular afternoon is the choice of so many people to have a sandwich for lunch in front of their computer instead of a proper meal.

While it seems natural for many people in this city to grab a stale sandwich for lunch or go to one of the packaged food joints like Eat! or Starbucks and grab some over priced, under nutritioned salt bomb, we just can’t really get used to it. Maybe it is because we are Swedish, or maybe we are just hungrier than most, but we crave proper lunch at least a few times a week. Lock our screens, get out of the office, have a pleasant walk down Lower Marsh and debate whether we should frequent a tried and tested favorite or try a new place among all the many food vendors the Waterloo area has to offer.

In an effort to try and combat the sandwich fatigue so rife at our office we decided to build this web site and list the venues we go to. Over time we hope to build a great and useful archive of suitable lunch venues around Waterloo, that we, our colleagues and anyone who feels an urge to NOT have a sandwich in front of their computer screen can find useful.

So please, let us know your opinions. If you know a venue you would like to see listed, please suggest it to us and we will as soon as we can go and try it out.

Will we ever expand the site to cover other areas of London? It certainly seems we should! The day after site launch, three people had already asked to be able to post venues in Holborn, Fitsrovia and Elephant & Castle. Need to do some serious thinking on that first though. Wordpress is an amazing tool, but setting up multiple blogs covering different areas is not anything I have ever done. Then again, when I started this site, this wasn’t anything I had ever done either… Please leave a comment below, or drop us a line, if you would like to see this site for another area of London, so I can gauge interest!
